Living in Two Places at Once

We have received many questions along the lines of, “How are you ministering in Congo and living in America?” and “How are you pastoring a church full-time in Idaho, and still a missionary in Congo at the same time?” These are good questions; questions we aren’t sure exactly how to answer.  The short answer is “We don’t know.” We honestly are still trying to figure all this out.

What we do know is that God is doing some incredible things in the World!  He continues to do amazing things in, through, and for us as well.  Here are some things to consider:

1.     God provided for us to have permanent, life-time visas to the DR Congo.  This means He provided for a way that we can enter and exit Congo as much as we want, as often as we want.  This is an incredible asset to the ministry right now!

2.     We still have a vehicle, a house, and a ministry in Congo.  We are Congolese residents and have cute little cards to prove it.  We still “live” there.

3.     Our sending church in Idaho agreed (willingly and excitedly) to have “our” ministry in Congo be an extension of the local church.  Since it is a ministry of the church, spending “normal ministry time” on the ministry there is natural.  They also agreed to have Sparky gone from the pulpit periodically in order to take trips to the DRC.

4.     The world is getting smaller and international travel is becoming easier.  What took us 4-5 plane changes and several exhausting 5-8 hour layovers at the beginning of our ministry has morphed into us only touching 3 airplanes for the whole trip with 2-4 hour layovers between.

5.     Technology makes it possible to get near-instant updates from the team “on the ground” through Facebook messenger and WhatsApp, both by text and voice/video calls. We are in contact with at least one team member daily.

Are there challenges? Yes.  Do we still need to physically be in Congo at times? Yes.  Are we still DR Congo missionaries? Absolutely. Can we explain exactly what God is doing, why, and how? Nope.

DR Congo Trip: February 2020

If you are interested in joining us, please contact Sparky as soon as possible! We are still looking at around February 3-26 (with some flexibility within that timeframe). We are prayerfully considering the possibility of Myndii going on this trip as well.  Please pray for this to work out and for others to join us!

As always, if you are interested in details for the SD cards, tablets for this project, Bibles, or any of the other projects, please let us know.  One-time gifts go a long way to getting these resources into hands!

Don’t forget: Wednesdays are our #DRCMinistryPartners days on Facebook. We will also update and include prayer requests as we get them from our partners in Congo. Just search and request to join: Clancy Chronicles – Praying for the DR Congo

Meanwhile in Idaho

We were blessed to participate in the baptism service on October 6th, at Notus Baptist in Idaho, with 3 adults flowing in believers’ baptism.  It has been incredibly humbling to be a part of so many new adult believers’ lives! Please pray as we continue to minister to these new ones in the faith and teach the church to make disciples by “teaching them to observe all things”.  Thank you for your continued prayers for this body!

Looking Ahead

Sparky and Myndii will be traveling to South Dakota to speak at Cornerstone Bible Institute at their annual mission’s conference from October 21-25.

DRC in February 2020! As we look forward to and plan this trip, please pray for several individuals or couples to join us. What about you?
