Happy New Year!

We trust that each of you had a blessed time of remembering our Savior’s birth, and had clear reminders of why He came!

As we look forward to this New Year, we hope you will join with us in committing 2010 to our Lord and His will.

Our Little Miss Martha

On the 3rd of December, at 9:00 pm (before leaving for meetings in Southern Utah the next morning) Martha hit her head on the bottom of the top bunk, splitting her head open with a gash almost exactly an inch and a half long, just above her hair-line.

After spending several hours in the Emergency Room, and receiving 5 staples, she seems to be healing up just fine. The staples are now removed and [unless you know what you’re looking for] it’s pretty hard to see. I must say she was quite a trooper about the whole thing and handled herself amazingly well.

We received one of those “speechless blessings” this last week. One of our beloved churches covered almost the entire hospital bill (within a few dollars)! A mere thank you doesn’t even begin express our gratitude for their thoughtfulness. We are reminded once again of Ephesians 3:20, “Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think…”

To Marysvale, Utah and Back

We had an absolutely wonderful time going to Marysvale with our Pastor and his wife. (The kids stayed with family here in Idaho.) What a difference it is to travel with ADULTS! No questions of “Are we there yet?” or “Is there a rest stop in the next 10 seconds or less!?!” We really did have a great time of visiting. What a blessing it was to have those hours of driving time to catch up on all God has been doing in this deputation ministry.

Our time in Marysvale was quite a blessing as well! Pastor and Jean knew some of the folks there from a previous ministry, and it was neat to see them reconnect. Myndii spoke at the Ladies Christmas Luncheon and had a wonderful time visiting with them. Sparky was able to share our presentation in Sunday School, and then preach in the morning service.

One of our favorite things about deputation is getting to see how God is working in different areas of our country. As discouraging as our current economic/political situation might seem, let us assure you that God is still at work and not done with our nation yet!!!

“No Turning Back”

The Life and Adventures of Herbert Grings, Missionary to the Congo
by Jan Van Hee

This is the biography of Herbert Grings who went to Congo in the early 1900’s. We are honored and blessed to be working with some of his family who are still in Congo today, as well as seeing and participating in the fruits of his labors.

We have a unique opportunity in regard to this book. The author, Jan Van Hee, is the pastor’s wife of one of our supporting churches. She has received permission from the publisher to allow us to offer this book to you at cover price, with the profits going into our ministry fund. It is not a long book at 88 pages, so it is perfect for a quicker read or young person. If you are interested in a copy of this book, please let us know.

In Congo

Please remember to pray for all the things that are happening in Congo before our arrival. There are many things happening there NOW that are paving the way for us, as well as other ministries that are carrying on. Please continue to pray for the national pastors that will be ministering with us, the national Christians who are without pastors and/or Bibles, our fellow missionaries, and the political situation there.
