Our "Team" is Back in Congo!
Praise the Lord that our ministry team (minus us, of course) all arrived back in Congo safely! Becky and the boys made it through all the airports and customs with no issues. The Grings had a few minor delays but finally made it to Congo, miraculously with all their luggage. Caleb Schaff made it through the Congo airport without the blessing of a translator…he was supposed to be flying in with the Grings…Orlic Ward met him outside so he didn’t have to take his first ride through Kinshasa in a taxi alone. Bob Grings is doing fantastic! We’ve been told that he’s doing even better than he did here in the states before his strokes.
Please pray for Dan Grings and Caleb Schaff as they take a trip to Dibaya-Lubwe (our “home town”) to help make and gather materials for the future Bible Institute buildings.
VBS
We had the opportunity to participate in three Vacation Bible School programs this last month. What an amazing experience to see all those kids, from 3 different communities, learning truths about God and His character. We also had the blessing of watching these children give. Through these VBS programs, God provided a solar panel kit and an entire set of cast iron cookware.
Please do continue to pray for all the children involved in VBS this summer; that God would use the time during these programs to reach them and their families for Christ.
God is So Good, and So Are His People
This has been an amazing month of God’s abundant blessings! We attached a list with our last prayer letter of items we have started looking for in preparation for the move to Congo. In this last month God, through His people, has provided for MANY of these items, and some things that weren’t even on the list!
We now have:
• A Diesel Pick-up (it’s going to need some work to get it “Congo worthy” --those of you that have seen pictures of the highway know any vehicle would)
• An entire set of cast iron cookware (2 Dutch ovens, 3 skillets, a griddle, and several accessories)
• One solar panel kit
• Cook books for pressure cooking and preservation
• A 4-wheeler (not on the list, but will be SUCH a blessing!)
• A Maytag wringer washer
French
Many have been inquiring about our French lessons. Our amazing tutor, Eliane, is still coming to our house (every Saturday we are not on the road). We are concentrating on conjugations, adjectives, and plurals at this point. We are building up vocabulary, but are still making sure we understand the “mechanics” of the language well. We are also still using Rosetta Stone and Eliane has been a great help and encouragement for that program as well.
We greatly appreciate your prayers on our behalf concerning our language study. This will be an essential part of our ministry when we reach Congo and we are so thankful our Lord has given us the opportunity to get started now.
