Bob Grings

Many of you know, or at least have heard of, Bob Grings. He went to Congo in the early 1900’s as a missionary kid with his parents, and has served faithfully there since.

He is now in the states in preparation for 2 of his granddaughter’s weddings. Over Memorial Day weekend, he was taken to the hospital with a suspected stroke. After tests were done, the doctors found that he was also having trouble with his heart. On Tuesday, May 26th, they placed a pace-maker. That Friday, they moved him to a rehab center. Please remember Bob, his family, and the Congo field team as we wait on the Lord.

Orlic Ward

Thank you all for your prayers for Orlic, his surgeries, his parents Lee and Becky Ward, and his brother Paul (that got to stay with us during much of this process).

Praise the Lord, there was no signs of bone cancer or lingering bone infection. The doctors thought his bone would still required a bone graft from his thigh, and muscle and skin grafting from his back, which meant more surgeries and more recovery time. However, our Lord is still the Great Physician; after 2 weeks Orlic was healing miraculously and they decided none of the grafting was needed after all! He still has a lot of recovery left to do, but we praise our God for the healing He has provided thus far.

Housing

We have officially started the process of selling our house. Anyone who has done this before knows we could use a lot of prayer! We are trying to pack, sort, prioritize, etc. which admittedly would be easier if we knew where we were going to live next. There are some interesting possibilities that have come up, including a house that is adjacent to our Church’s property. Please continue to be in prayer for us to get everything ready, and for the Lord’s direction in what steps to take next.

Praise the Lord, a group of teens has put together a work crew to come help with projects this coming Saturday! They will be coming for about 6 hours, and we have a list of ideas for them to tackle. Please pray for their safety as they help us.

Poor “Old” Computer

Those of you that know computers well, will surely cringe…those of you like us, will most likely just shrug (because we don’t know any better).

We have a laptop that has served us quite well. We bought it [used] several years ago. We love our old, chunky, slow, computer, despite it being an “ancient” nearly 7 years old…however, deputation has not been very kind to it. We have been using it a lot more lately; the screen is going out and it’s getting notably slower.

To us, like many of you, this computer is still (or should be) brand new. However, we could use the advice of those of you that “know better.”

We have been doing some research, but would love some input on what we should be looking for, what to avoid, etc. If we end up having to buy new, we are hoping to limp this one along until the back to school sales hit, mid to late summer.

If you know of anyone selling a good used laptop, or would like to give us pointers on what we need to be looking for, please let us know.

Looking Ahead

Thank you all for being in prayer about our schedule! As things have begun filling up, and we are scheduling meetings/events so far into the future, our “looking ahead” section was getting quite lengthy. In light of that, we will start only listing the following few months in each monthly e-mail newsletter. Please remember that our entire schedule is on our website in the calendar at the bottom of the page…just scroll down to see future months, and click on events to see the details. This calendar is consistently updated, so should show current changes and additions. As you can see, we have several things coming up, but we still have openings. Again, thank you so much for your prayers!!!
