God is doing so many things through the ministries we are involved in. It would take too long to tell everything in one update; so, we will be telling you more over next few months of The Clancy Chronicles.

Church: Église Baptiste de Beaux Pieds

The local church in our village, is doing well.  Due to health and family reasons, Pastor Emanuel has moved to Kikwit.  In his absence, the church has called Pastor Didier (dee-dee-ay) to pastor the church.  We have worked with Didier for many years as a deacon at the church and a student at the Bible Institute.  Things are continuing to progress well under his leadership.  They have finished roofing the building with tin, are maintaining the structure, started building benches for seating, and even started cementing the floor! More importantly, the church is growing spiritually.  We have seen a continued dedication to the truth of God’s Word, and even standing up to false doctrines. Recently, the church has been nicknamed “the church of the closed door” because they have been using scripture to defend against taking things in unbiblical directions; in effect “closing the door” to the wrong path others wanted to take. What an honoring title!
Many of you have prayed for the church plant in Mangai.  This work has continued with Beaux Pieds sending teams there for evangelism and Sunday services at least once a month.  They now have a congregation even larger than Beaux Pieds! Mangai even sent their choir to sing a special at the graduation ceremony. What a blessing to see the work spreading to the next generation of believers!  Reproducing themselves has presented some complications, so the church in Dibaya has asked us to come teach on how to effectively plant churches.  It would be like someone completing Basic Training for the military and assuming they can immediately become a drill sergeant.  We have placed unrealistic expectations upon them, and they are understandably asking for help and guidance.

Institut Biblique Baptiste de Congo

We started a 3-year Bible program in 2013 and just had our first graduating class.  Why did it take 6 years for a 3-year program? Just take a look back at our past prayer letters. Through many readjustments in “our” plans, we are so excited to see some of the trials and hard work paying off! What an amazing work God has done in and through these men’s lives to get them to this point!!

These men are representatives from each of the IBBC mobile locations.  We had twelve start the program in 2013, and nine graduates this year.  The other three missed a few classes along the way but are scheduled to be in next year’s graduating class! If everyone meets the requirements, we could see a class of up to 17  next year.  At this point, we have new students joining all the time so each graduation should be bigger than the last. What a blessing!

Martha Update

We do not have much information yet, but please be in prayer for Martha’s health situation.  She had an “episode” in 2016 that was attributed to an allergic reaction.  Another “episode” occurred in January of this year while at the doctor’s office getting college vaccines; this one was attributed to her dislike of shots.  However, while in Congo, she had two more “episodes” that the doctors now believe have all been seizures. We have been referred to a neurologist here in Idaho and have already gone through blood tests, an MRI, and an EEG.  We are waiting for test results and have an appointment with the neurologist next week. We will put out more information as it becomes available. We do ask that you be sensitive to the situation and allow Martha process all these new and possible life-altering changes. Please pray for the doctors to have wisdom and understanding, and for the diagnosis and/or treatment to not interfere with her attending college this fall.

Looking Ahead

Please look for The Clancy Chronicles next month for an update on the Pastoral Library SD card project, upcoming trip information, future Bible Institute development, a family update, and more!
