On the Road Again

March (and into the first week of April) was a busy month! We did more traveling than we expected, and what we knew to tell you about in our last “Looking Ahead” section.  Thank you for your prayers for traveling mercies!  The Lord has answered!

Since our last letter, we have traveled from our “home base” in southwestern Idaho to: North Carolina, the Oregon coast, Washington, northern Idaho, eastern Idaho, Utah, and South Dakota…with a few trips back to the “home base” in between. In these last few weeks Sparky flew across the country (along with our sending church pastor) to meet with the IFM board; we shared our ministry presentation in 5 churches; Myndii was able to speak at 3 separate Ladies’ events; we visited with friends, family, and supporters…and put well over 5,000 more miles on the mini-van.

Many have asked if we are getting any “time to rest” here in the States.  We are busy, but it is a different busy than on the field.  Our greatest decisions on a daily basis here are things like where to stop and get fuel and food while traveling...there are SO many choices!  In that way, we are resting.  Though enjoying our time and “rest” here, we continue to look forward to going home to Congo!

Necessities and The Lord’s Provision

We shared with you a while ago about some needs that would hit when we arrived in the U.S.  One was for an eye exam for our son, Titus.  He did get glasses prescribed in Congo, but we were concerned that it may not have been accurate.  Even though we had only asked for Titus to be examined, the Lord knew better.  An eye doctor in Boise, along with his staff, donated FREE eye exams and any needed glasses for our whole family!  Here is what we found out:
·      Titus did have the right prescription from the clinic in Kinshasa! This makes us much more confident in using them if needed in the future.
·      Martha and Myndii checked out fine, though the doctor mentioned that Myndii’s eyes are getting older and reading glasses may become necessary within the next few years.
·      Sparky needed reading glasses.
·      Ruth, who never indicated a need for glasses or problems with her eyesight, ended up with the worst eyes of us all!  They gave her a reduced prescription to start getting her eyes adjusted, and will be doing another eye exam and stronger lenses later this month.

The children’s school materials for next term was also a big expense and involved many decisions.  Through some special gifts and money we had set aside, most of those materials were able to be chosen and ordered!

We still need to work on some dental issues.  Some has been provided for already.  Please continue to pray for the Lord’s provision in that area!

Meanwhile, back in the DR Congo…

The two other IBBC professors, Muna and Excellent, are almost done with this cycle of classes!  We got word from them that they did make it to the last location. They have had a lot of trouble with flat tires on the motorcycle, so please continue to pray for their travels as they will be riding it back to Dibaya when this class is over.  They really do appreciate all your prayers for health, safety, and traveling mercies, as well as prayers for their families staying behind in Dibaya.

Looking Ahead
Please remember that our ministry and family schedule can be found on this blog site (top of the page under "Calendar")!  We will make every effort to keep it updated.
