Meetings, Parks, Planes, and an Almost-broken Arm
May was a wonderfully full month! We
had great meetings and marvelous times of fellowship in Utah, Wyoming, and
Montana. It never ceases to amaze us how the Lord is still working in and
through His people! One of the great
privileges of missionary furlough is that we get front row seats to see what
God is doing in so many churches here in the USA…all while sharing about what
He is doing in Africa. We truly serve an
amazing God, and He is not done yet!
We received a special gift of “fun
money” to be used on something fun for the family. We decided on a trip through Teton and
Yellowstone National Parks. We were able
to spend several days there, driving to the different visitor centers and
taking some great walks to see the sights.
God allowed us to see a lot of wildlife and gave us fantastic weather. What a way to celebrate our Great Creator! We had a wonderful time and we made some good
family memories!
The day after we left Yellowstone, we
put Martha on a plane. (Well, actually 2
planes, as she had a plane-change in Seattle.) Sparky’s mom had a surgery and
we sent Martha back to help out her Nana.
Both Martha and Nana are doing fine.
We are blessed to have a daughter willing and able to be a blessing!
The night we arrived in Kalispell,
Montana, Titus fell while playing at our friends’ house. He was still complaining of arm pain the next
morning so we took him in for x-rays. We
are thankful the arm was not broken, but ended up with a bruised bone and some
tendon and muscle damage…which earned him 2 weeks in a sling. We really may need to invest in body-sized
bubble wrap for that boy…
Weighing In
The time has
come that we have been slightly dreading…time to PACK! …And weigh, and re-pack, and weigh
again…until we get our perfect 50 pound luggage (no more, no less).
Why now?
Because this is our last chunk of time at our “home base” in Idaho before we go
back to Congo. We would like to be mostly
packed before we leave for camp in July.
We have started “gathering” and placing things in luggage but there is a
lot of gathering left to do! If you
would like to participate in this process, or if you are just curious as to
what an African missionary wants to take back with them, you can see our “wish
list” at: http://amzn.com/w/2VBPDK5C2OSBS …or follow
the link on our blog site (to the right). *We have prioritized each item so you can
sort by priority.* (Some of them are
more necessary, and some are just for fun! There are also notes next to several
of the items.) As always, lack of any of
these items will not prevent our return to Congo, but each would be a blessing
to have. (If you have any questions,
please feel free to ask.)
Meanwhile, Back in the DR Congo
We got word
last week that Excellent has been very ill.
Please pray that the Great Physician will grant a swift and complete
recovery!
It sounds
like things at the church are doing well, please continue to pray for the church
in Dibaya-Lubwe for: unity, steadfast faith, unwavering truth, and to live out

Support
Praise the
Lord…We have received some commitments toward our estimated monthly support
needs! We are rejoicing with new ministry partners and excited to see the
Lord’s faithful provision…again!
We also
still have several projects and we are looking forward to seeing the Lord
provide in those areas as well!
Looking Ahead
Please
remember that our ministry and family schedule can be found on this blog
site! We will make every effort to keep
it updated.
